About Us
The Tulsa Area Homeschool Orchestra is a division of Oklahoma Homeschool Bands & Strings. Our program is designed to give Oklahoma homeschoolers the experience and joy of being in a quality orchestra. We offer classes at several locations for families in Tulsa, Jenks, Broken Arrow, Owasso, and surrounding areas. The classes include Beginning Orchestra, Intermediate Orchestra, Advanced Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra.
Director
Bethany Atkinson is the director of TAHO. She directs the orchestras and teaches the Rhythm & Recorder Class and Class Piano. She is experienced in both music and leadership, as she served as the concertmaster of the ORU orchestra for 2 years. Bethany’s love for music began at an early age. She started piano at age 7 and violin at age 13. As a homeschool student herself, she competed in many music festivals and Guild auditions. Bethany studied music and graphic design at Oral Roberts University.
Bethany desires to pass on her love of music to each of her students including her own 3 daughters – Ella, Nora, and Charlie Sue. Along with her husband, who is also an orchestra director, she is very involved with the music ministry at their church.
